Painting for me offers an immediate response to a basic creative urge. To surround myself in color, slinging paint around, is pure joy.

I often start a painting with large color fields; images appear and disappear. Sometimes they keep me company throughout the process and end up in the final piece. More often they get buried by more and more layers.

Eventually, some characters appear and the story begins. What that story is, I invite the viewer to decide.
